Our Brand

Pure. Premium.
American Mountain Spring Water.

American Summits mission statement seal

Our mission is to provide pure mineral water sourced from pristine American mountain springs. We use sustainable springs that are naturally recharged by rain and snowfall. We will never treat our water with chemicals or preservatives, or with distillation or reverse osmosis. Therefore, we will never use well water as our source. Instead, we seek out untouched springs high in the mountains in remote, protected lands. Our water is organically filtered through layers of mountain rock, and mechanically filtered to remove fine particulates, leaving traces of beneficial minerals and a natural alkaline level ideal for the body's pH balance.

Our commitment to identify and utilize springs in the American wilderness is designed to provide water of the ultimate purity and taste, while reducing the country's reliance on imported bottled water. With more than 98% of glass bottled water served across American hotels and restaurants originating in Europe and the South Pacific, an increase in consumption of American-sourced mineral water can reduce the industry's transportation footprint significantly. Our clear, recyclable glass bottles are produced in North America, as well.

With our still and sparkling water the perfect accompaniment to any food or wine, we seek to be the mineral water of choice at fine restaurants, hotels and spas across the country – as well as at celebrations large and small in American homes. Above all, we strive to offer a pure taste of the American wilderness itself.

"The owner of my local store told me to try American Summits—that it's the best tasting water. He was right; it is so much better than the imported waters I have been drinking for years."

A Commitment to Sustainability

Our renewable spring source is recharged by snow and rain

American Summits was originated to reduce the carbon footprint of bringing fine bottled water to some of America's best restaurants. Great care was taken in the selection of the source for purity, sustainability and minimal impact to the environment. Bottling directly from our American source, recharged by rain and snowfall over thousands of years, we leave no trace. We use only glass bottles that are 100% recyclable and made in North America.

Our Source

United States map

American Summits spring water is sourced from the Beartooth Mountains in Wyoming, perhaps one of the most pristine locations in North America. The Beartooth Mountains are geologically composed of Precambrian granite and crystalline metamorphic rock, some of the oldest on Earth. There are about 25 small glaciers that exist in the Beartooth Range, over 300 pristine lakes and waterfalls.

Beartooth Mountain

The water that is filtered through the granite rocks and extracted is naturally mineral enriched with superior purity and clarity. The high altitude of the spring shelters it from animals, cities and industrial influences.

By bottling at the source in the Beartooth Mountain Range of Wyoming, we reduce the transportation footprint to North America and can offer the freshest, highest quality water. American Summits spring water is available in restaurants, hotels and specialty retailers throughout the country who are committed to purity, quality and local sourcing.

Minerals in the water

Natural Mineral Water

Our water contains traces of beneficial natural minerals from the rock filtration and absolutely no preservatives. The naturally alkaline water helps restore the natural pH balance of the human body. Drinking alkaline water can help to neutralize stored acids and toxins in the body, replenish essential minerals and helps to maintain normal blood flow.*

Philip Lajaunie

Philip Lajaunie

Founder and CEO

Born and raised in Bordeaux, France, American Summits' Founder and CEO Philip Lajaunie was introduced to fine dining at an early age. A well-prepared meal, whether at home or in a café or restaurant, was a social centerpiece for gatherings of family and friends. True to European tradition, still or sparkling mineral water served from glass bottles always accompanied the food, and, yes, the wine. This was a lasting memory for Philip and a lesson he applied to his eventual career as a restaurateur.

Lajaunie moved to the United States In 1982 and opened 20 restaurants over two decades in locations ranging from New York to Washington DC, Atlanta, Miami, and Tokyo. At each, fine mineral water was served, though the water was typically imported from Europe. Lajaunie often wondered, with the abundant natural wilderness that still exists throughout U.S., why an American premium mineral water in glass bottles was not widely available and why 98% of premium bottled water served in U.S. restaurants and hotels was imported, primarily from Europe and the South Pacific.

As the success of his restaurant group grew, Lajaunie's curiosity about finding an American source for fine mineral water turned into a passion. He crisscrossed the country over three years, searching for pure mountain sources for an American mineral water. Finally, in 2008, Lajaunie came across a small local spring high in the expansive Beartooth Mountain range of Wyoming, in which water was naturally filtered by layers and layers of rock, before emerging as the purest and most delicious spring water he had ever tasted. American Summits was born.

Lajaunie has assembled a dedicated and experienced team to bring American Summits to market. The brand has been embraced by distributors, including leading organic distributors, as well as restaurants and hotels in key regional markets including Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington DC, Las Vegas, and Salt Lake City.
